Christine Jetten creates glazes that will serve as a new vibrant medium for use in contemporary architecture.
Introduction

Christine Jetten her aim is to give new, artistic and high quality glazed ceramics a place in the spectrum. As a material and as the starting point of the design process. So that architects can include the option of working with ceramics in their design from the outset.

My aim is to give the new artistic and high quality glazed ceramics a place in the spectrum. The richness of ceramic glazes can encourage architects to include ceramics in their design process, as a material and also as the starting point.
I prefer to work close with architects and the ceramic industry. So that architects, and students, can include the option of working with ceramics in their design from the outset.

" In 1997, Jetten was asked for by the famous ceramics manufacturer Royal Delft, where she succeeded in recovering the recipes of old architectural glazes and,together with former employees, deciphered forgotten glazing codes. She used the results to restore the entrance and inner courtyard to their former glory. She also worked as an advisor in the restauration of the fountain of the Peace Palace in The Hague, the Enschede synagogue and Sea View Hospital in Staten Island, New  York. "

CHILDS RESTAURANT - Coney Island NY
With the help of Boston Valley Terra Cotta, the nearly century-old building was brought back to life from 3-D renderings developed from field survey photos and multiple measurements on-site. With the assistance of glaze artist Christine Jetten, 32 different custom glazes were developed to match the colorful terra cotta masonry units, that were then replicated by Boston Valley Terra Cotta.
